Women bishops – what difference does it make?

Tuesday 26th May, 2015, 6:30-8:00pm

St James’s Church, Piccadilly, London, UK

The Church of England recently appointed its first female bishop, the Rt Rev Libby Lane. In other churches and other faiths, there have been women leaders for some time. This debate draws several of them together to ask what difference woman bishops are likely to make.

Co-organised with The Faiths & Civil Society Unit, Goldsmiths, University of London & hosted by St James’s Piccadilly

  1. Jed King. says:

Are Women trying to play Men at their own game? I’m all for women bishops and for them to hold other equal ranks in the hierarchy’s of their favoured religions if that is what they are intent on doing. But the plain fact is, ‘Men’ (and only men) created the Gods and the multiplicity of creeds in the first place, with the subsequent persecution of women for all the ills of the world stemming from the nonsense of ‘Original Sin’ in the mythical ‘Garden of Eden’. My real question is, -Why oh why do women want to pursue the folly of their men and to forever remain in their chains? They should know better and wise up, -once and for all time. Please, please ladies, get real if only for the cause of your own emancipation and don’t fall for the cop-out notion, ‘If you can’t beat ’em, join ’em’,
